I have a plushie in this "Sugarcraft" art show in Chicago. It's pretty exciting because other fantastic artists (Twinkie Chan and My Paper Crane!!!) are also going to be in the show. I am kind of kicking myself becuase honestly, I should have tried much harder to make something spectacular for the show. The lady that contacted me wanted a cupcake monster similar to one I had listed in my shop at the time so I sent her one. Now I see on the website for the art show:

She has a completely different plushie of mine listed... one that is still sitting here in my office and has nothing to do with sugar or sweets! One I never really liked to begin with. Apparantly she took the liberty of renaming him, too. Maybe I am taking this all way too seriously, but I am pretty crabby about it. It's kind of embarrassing to be the picture that "doesn't belong". Maybe nobody will even notice, maybe nobody will be looking at the website.. I'm sure I'm the only person that actually gives a damn but it's still pretty frustrating!

I would be irked as well. Especially since she took the liberty to rename it. She isn't the artist.

Yeah, I kinda want to contact her over it and be like "WTF?" but I'm sure she has a lot going on and could seriously care less. She has been pretty flaky through this whole thing. I didn't take any pictures before I sent it out either so I can't even send her a picture and ask her to replace it..
I feel like a big whine ass crabbing about it. My husband said that I should just be happy that I am in the show at all...

It's awesome that you got in! But I also understand your frustration with the situation. She should have used the one you sent her OR she should have contacted you and ASKED about using the other one first. Also..I think that it is a little rude to change the name of something that has already been named by the artist. It's like if I would start to call Ramona by the name of Mary Anne whenever referring to her. *GRRRR*

Yeahhhhhhhhh!
I'm glad you understand. You make me feel like much less of a crybaby for being upset over it!

That's really weird. I understand she must be overwhelmed, but I feel like a curator has a responsibility to the artists to keep things in ship shape.

One of the reasons why I want to go to this thing is to see how someone would display my work, or if it's kind of in a stupid pile somewhere.

I would love to know how it all turns out. If you could take some pictures and post them (or just email me) I would be forever and ever grateful!
